Seeing myself through the mirror
It's dawned on me that I have a kinda Clark Kent/Superman thing going on. Not that I'm making overly elaborate claims to magnificance, it's something obviously more mundane, but still I find it interesting. As always, it's the little things in life that amuse me. You see, in my daily routine I'll get ready, then get washed. At this stage I won't have put my glasses on so when I look in the mirror, I don't see what everyone else must usually see. I see myself as myself, I see an image that appears to be for me alone. How many people can truly say they've seen me without my glasses for any period of time in the past 8/9 years? That's why I find it odd when I catch my reflexion outside of this morning routine. I see what everyone else must (although admittedly reversed in the mirror). I see vast differences in the look of confidence (or lack thereof). I see a bookish, almost mature face, when that morning I saw something completely different. I'm like a cat I guess. I stare in the mirror and see something I can't perceive in myself. A stranger staring back. Odd. Very odd.
This has all made me think (as everything seems to). Maybe when I (eventually) get my eyes checked and some new glasses, I might try contact lenses. True, I can't stand the idea of shoving my fingers in my eyes, but what an opportunity. To the looks on peoples faces when they see in me what I do. That other, yet no less a part of me that seems to have been reserved for me alone. Definately worth a shot.

I am often told by a wide variety of people that I look scary without glasses, they hide what are a pair quite deepset eyes. Sometimes I quiver with fear when I shave......
